  1. There are three things most precious to human kind:
    1. health
    2. liberty
    3. virtue.
  2. Three things which do not suffer trifling:
    1. health
    2. prosperity
    3. time.
  3. Three things which keep a person in good health:
    1. moderate food
    2. well-apportioned labor
    3. natural warmth.
  4. Three foods which bring health, long life, and clear understanding:
    1. corn food
    2. milk food
    3. garden food.
  5. Three foods which bring disease, short life, and dull understanding:
    1. flesh food
    2. sweetened food
    3. highly seasoned food.
  6. Three customary acts which make one healthy and long-lived:
    1. work, by tilling, in moderation
    2. rising early
    3. innocent mirth.
  7. Three customary acts which bring short life and disease:
    1. too much labor
    2. too much sleep in the morning
    3. peevishness.
  8. Three frequent changes which bring long life:
    1. change of food
    2. change of work
    3. change of amusement.
  9. Three good things in one who loves good health:
    1. enough sleep at Bealtinna (in Spring)
    2. enough food at Meansamhradh (at Mid-Summer)
    3. enough fire at Geamhradh (in the Winter).
  10. Three things which strengthen the body:
    1. lying on a hard bed
    2. cold air
    3. dry food.
  11. Three things whose excess shortens ones life:
    1. flesh food
    2. drunkenness
    3. too much dallying about with those of the opposite gender.
  12. Three unfailing remedies in every disease and sickness:

    3. patience.
